Western Hills Plaza-Sears Demolition
Demolition
SES was awarded a complete site package for the re-development of a portion of the Western Hills Plaza shopping center. Part of the contract was demolition of an existing three floor, 114,000 sf former Sears department store.
The Sears store shared a common wall and utilities with a smaller occupied tenant space. SES was responsible for designing, permitting, and re-configuring sprinkler, fire alarm, and domestic water utilities to deliver uninterrupted service to the occupied space.
When utility re-work was complete demolition could begin. After installing roof and floor shoring, we demolished one bay of the Sears space by hand to gain separation from the occupied space. All demolition was complete in four weeks with no complaints from the nearby tenant or any interruption to their business.
