Cincinnati Zoo Underground Detention Repair
Underground Detention Repair
Longtime SES client, The Cincinnati Zoo, had a recurring sinkhole forming under the solar panels in the Vine St. parking lot. Video investigation found the cause to be a collapsed section of the 12’ diameter storm detention system that runs over 30’ deep under the lot.
SES offered several cost-effective repair options that minimized impact to Zoo patrons.
The chosen option included driving a small diameter pipe through the collapsed section, constructing bulkheads on each end, and filling the void with aggregate and concrete. All this was done underground while only taking up twenty parking spaces on the surface. Additionally, the short length of the repair section kept the detention system capacity well above required storage volumes.
